Lucy Little Fishes Chesterfield

Swimming has always been a huge part of my life. From a young age, I was a competitive swimmer for my local club and the Chesterfield Asthma Society. While living in the U.S., I also completed the American Red Cross Lifeguarding qualification, which deepened my lifelong connection to the water.

My true passion for baby and toddler swimming began through my own children. Both started swimming at just six weeks old and have grown up loving the water. I treasured those early moments — being in the pool with them, building emotional bonds, developing trust, and watching their confidence grow. Today, they both swim for local clubs, and my daughter has a particular love for artistic swimming.

Inspired by these experiences, I made a complete career change after having my second child. Before launching Little Fishes, I worked as a wedding and events coordinator and also within the NHS in Sheffield’s physiotherapy services.

Qualifications

In 2017, I began my professional journey into swim teaching with Turtle Tots. I loved their holistic, baby-led ethos. Since then, I’ve continued to grow and develop my knowledge with a wide range of qualifications, including:

  • STA Level 1 & Level 2 Swim Teacher Training
  • STA Baby & Preschool Diploma
  • Level 1 & 2 Competitive Swim Coach
  • Level 1 Artistic Swimming Coach
  • National Rescue Award for Swim Teachers & Coaches (NRASTC)

I’m passionate about ongoing learning and regularly attend CPD sessions and training courses. I enjoy putting new techniques into practice and sharing what I’ve learned with the families I work with.

Alongside running Little Fishes, I teach one-to-one lessons with Swim 121 and volunteer as a coach at both Chesterfield Swimming Club and Rykneld Synchro Club.

I truly love what I do — it doesn’t feel like work at all! Being in the water with your little ones, watching them grow in confidence and ability, brings me so much joy. My approach is always gentle and baby-led, helping children build essential safety skills and swimming techniques through play and fun.

I look forward to welcoming and supporting every baby, toddler, and parent who joins Little Fishes — and to sharing the joy, development, and confidence that comes from being in the water together.
